About the Utah Food Handler Certification Course

This Utah Food Handler Certification Course requires a minimum of 75 minutes of instruction and is designed to provide the food handler with a basic understanding of:

  • How Foods Become Unsafe
  • Personal Hygiene and Employee Health
  • Controlling Time and Temperature/Requirements
  • Preventing Cross Contamination
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing

The course is accredited by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services and includes free audio in your choice of English or Spanish. Once completed, you can immediately download your certificate which is valid for 30 days. In addition, your official Food Handler Permit Card will be mailed to your address by the local health department. The certificate and permit card are proof to both your employer and Health Inspector that you completed an accredited course. The food handler certification is valid for 3 years.
